The DIN F4 Metallic Seat Gate Valve PN16 NRS (Model 1401) is a precision-engineered industrial gate valve designed to DIN 3352 F4 (short face-to-face) with a gunmetal metallic seat configuration and non-rising stem (NRS) mechanism. Purpose-built for industrial fluid isolation where reliable, leak-proof shutoff and robust mechanical durability are non-negotiable, this valve combines the dimensional standardization of the DIN framework with the proven longevity of metallic seating technology. Manufactured by Shandong Huaze Valve Co., Ltd. with over 25 years of specialized valve production, every Model 1401 is individually tested to EN 1074-1/-2 standards.
The metallic seat design — featuring a precision-machined gunmetal (bronze alloy) seat ring in the body and corresponding gunmetal facing on the wedge — delivers exceptional resistance to wire-drawing erosion, scoring from suspended particulates, and high-cycle wear. This makes the Model 1401 the preferred choice for industrial process lines, raw water intake, cooling water systems, and applications where the long-term sealing integrity of metal-to-metal contact outperforms elastomeric alternatives. The NRS stem keeps the thread mechanism fully enclosed, protecting it from external contamination while minimizing the valve's overall installation height.
Fully compliant with DIN 3352 F4, the definitive German/European standard for metallic-seated gate valves. The F4 designation specifies the short face-to-face pattern (DIN 3202 F4), making the valve dimensionally interchangeable with existing DIN installations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and markets worldwide that follow DIN norms. Flanges are drilled to EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16 for complete compatibility.
The body seat ring is machined from high-grade gunmetal (bronze alloy), with a matching gunmetal facing on the wedge. This metal-to-metal sealing pair offers distinct advantages for industrial service: it is immune to the temperature limitations and chemical degradation that affect elastomeric seats, resistant to scoring from suspended solids, and unaffected by continuous high-cycle operation. While metallic seats may not achieve the absolute zero-leakage of resilient seats, the precisely lapped mating surfaces of the Model 1401 deliver leakage rates well within the requirements of EN 1074-2 for industrial isolation duty — providing dependable, repeatable sealing performance year after year.
Leak-proof performance is engineered at every potential leak path: (1) the precision-lapped gunmetal seat interface ensures tight shutoff at the main sealing point; (2) the body-bonnet joint features an EPDM gasket in a machined groove, tested leak-tight at 24 bar shell test pressure; (3) the gland packing — PTFE-impregnated synthetic fiber braid — provides a reliable stem seal that is field-adjustable and replaceable; (4) stainless steel bonnet fasteners maintain consistent clamping force without corrosion-induced relaxation. Every valve is hydrostatically tested at 1.5x rated pressure to verify the complete pressure boundary integrity.
The Non-Rising Stem design positions the threaded stem mechanism inside the valve body cavity, where it remains continuously lubricated and shielded from external dirt, dust, moisture, and physical damage. This means: no exposed stem to clean or grease, no stem to protect during installation, fixed overall height for predictable space planning, and lower valve chamber dimensions in buried applications. The stainless steel SS420/SS431 stem with rolled threads and bronze stem nut ensures smooth, low-torque operation through thousands of cycles.
The GGG50 ductile iron body and bonnet (EN-GJS-500-7) provide approximately double the tensile strength of gray cast iron with significantly better impact resistance and elongation. This is critical in industrial environments where valves may be subjected to water hammer, vibration from nearby pumps, and mechanical loads from connected pipework. The 100% fusion bonded epoxy coating — applied to all internal and external surfaces at minimum 250 um DFT — protects the ductile iron substrate from corrosion in aggressive industrial atmospheres, treated process water, and buried service conditions.
The smooth, unobstructed full-bore waterway minimizes turbulence and pressure drop across the valve. This directly reduces pumping energy consumption — a meaningful consideration in continuous industrial processes where even small per-valve losses accumulate across dozens of isolation points. The clean bore profile also eliminates sediment accumulation zones and is fully compatible with pipeline inspection and cleaning tools.
