Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coating for Inner and Outside Surface
Flange Drilled According to EN1092 PN25
Size:DN50--DN300
The BS5163 Flange Gate Valve PN25 NRS (Model 1112) is a robust, high-pressure ductile iron gate valve engineered with a particular emphasis on corrosion protection and long-term durability. Featuring a 100% fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating system applied to all internal and external surfaces, a GGG50 ductile iron body and bonnet, stainless steel stem, and BS 5163 compliant design, this valve is purpose-built for buried service, aggressive environments, and applications where maximum service life with minimum maintenance is the primary specification requirement. Manufactured by Shandong Huaze Valve Co., Ltd. — an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer with over 25 years of specialized valve production — every unit is individually tested to EN 1074-1/-2.
What distinguishes the Model 1112 is its comprehensive approach to corrosion defense. While many valves apply epoxy coating to external surfaces only, the 1112 features 100% FBE coverage on both internal and external surfaces — every wetted surface, every external face, every cavity. This total-coverage philosophy, combined with the inherently corrosion-resistant ductile iron metallurgy and stainless steel internal components, creates a valve that withstands decades of exposure to aggressive soils, treated water chemistries, and harsh atmospheric conditions without degradation.
The Model 1112's signature feature is its comprehensive FBE coating system. Unlike conventional liquid epoxy paints that can thin at edges and corners, fusion bonded epoxy is applied as a dry powder electrostatically and then oven-cured at high temperature, creating a chemically cross-linked, thermosetting polymer barrier that molecularly bonds to the ductile iron substrate. Applied at a minimum 250 um DFT to every surface — internal bore, external body, bonnet cavity, wedge chamber — and individually spark-tested at 3 kV for pinhole detection, this coating eliminates the corrosion pathways that cause premature valve failure in buried and submerged service.
GGG50 ductile iron (EN-GJS-500-7) provides the structural foundation for the Model 1112's durability. With approximately double the tensile strength (500 MPa UTS) and significantly greater elongation (7% minimum) compared to gray cast iron, the ductile iron body absorbs water hammer shocks, resists crack propagation from impact damage, and maintains dimensional stability under sustained PN25 pressure loading. The material's spheroidal graphite microstructure also provides inherently better corrosion resistance than the flake graphite in gray iron — a meaningful advantage even before the FBE coating is applied.
Rated PN25 (25 bar working pressure) with shell tested at 37.5 bar and seat tested at 27.5 bar, the Model 1112 handles system pressures well beyond standard PN10/PN16 class valves. The optimized wall thickness design, precision-machined bonnet joint with EPDM gasket, and robust stainless steel bolting system ensure full pressure containment integrity with generous safety margins. This higher pressure rating, combined with the comprehensive corrosion protection, makes the 1112 particularly suitable for long-distance transmission mains, high-head pumping stations, and industrial applications where both pressure and corrosion resistance are critical.
The Non-Rising Stem design complements the corrosion-protection philosophy of the Model 1112 by keeping the stem thread mechanism completely enclosed within the valve body. The stainless steel stem and bronze stem nut operate in a permanently lubricated internal environment, shielded from external dirt, grit, moisture, and corrosive atmospheres. No exposed stem threads to rust, seize, or require periodic greasing. No stem to protect during backfilling. The result is consistently low operating torque and maintenance-free stem operation throughout the valve's service life.
Full compliance with BS 5163 ensures dimensional interchangeability, material conformity, and performance consistency across all installations. The standard has been the definitive specification for waterworks gate valves since 1974, providing procurement confidence for water authorities, consulting engineers, and contractors in markets including the UK, Ireland, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Commonwealth countries worldwide.
